I have a pair for work and a pair for doing chores. They are lightweight and I have no problem chasing suspects in them. The side zipper gives a snug fit. The shoes also clean up really nice for inspection. The fact that it is safety toe with a fiberglass shank and it feels like a high top sneaker. Worth the money for the quality.

I wanted a boot that was tough enough for riding my motorcycle, and comfortable enough to wear all the time. These are that boot. They are just tall enough and just heavy enough to make me feel confident on the bike, but they are also comfortable enough to wear all day. None of my previous boots can be walked in for more than a half a mile or so before they become uncomfortable, they are motorcycle boots, and God help you if you need to walk. These bates boots on the other hand (or maybe foot in this case) go as far as I can.

I work as a Security Guard and these boots were just what I was looking for. They are comfortable, have a hardened toe and zip up the sides to make taking off/on the boot a breeze. Glad I ran across these and made the purchase.
EDIT: Since my initial review I have worn these for over 1 year and they are just now starting to break down. The soles are actually detaching from the rest of the shoe in giant chunks on both feet. It's almost like something melted and the shoe is decomposing as a result. I loved these very much but I'm not sure I'd spend the money on them again.
EDIT#2: I went out and got a tube of black "shoe goo" and was able to re-attach the soles. I don't know how long until the boots completely explode but until then I'll just use the goo.
